“The Valley’s largest credit union, Hunter United, is expecting to report a record lending year, loan advances are up 17% on last year. The growth has come in both mortgages and personal lending as Hunter United has worked to refinance members into a more beneficial borrowing arrangement."

Hunter United Managing Director, John Ford, said “Our Credit Union is growing at about 1.6 times credit system growth as more people turn to us from the major banks. The story has been the same on the investment side as deposits have grown by approximately 12% on last year. Were delighted to provide local residents an alternative to the major banks. Not only do they get to save on their banking but they also have the added benefit of knowing all our decisions are taken locally and their money stays in the Hunter Valley.”
